There are so many benefits to eating healthy. Not only will you look great but you’ll feel amazing. Healthy nutrition can be the prescription for decreasing stress, increasing energy and uplifting your mood. In fact, those who eat well add nearly 14 to 20 years onto their life.
I want to emphasize the significance of healthy nutrition within the Black community because research has shown that the Black community is at an increased risk of chronic disease due to high rates of obesity. This obesity is a result of lots of sugar, fat intake and salt in our food. In other words, the way we eat has become the death of our community.
Now there have been so many reasons why one has chosen not to eat healthy.
- It can be expensive.
- Most recipes appeal to the flavorless palate, also known as the sense of taste.
- Most doctors emphasize calorie intake more so than healthy choices.
- Lastly, most of us don’t know what a healthy meal plan would look like.
